A live auction of the donated artworks will be held on the 29th of June during an invitation-only gala dinner at the JW Marriott Hotel Ballroom on the 3rd Floor of Pacific Place. Ms. Anita Archer of Larasati Auctioneers will conduct the auction. Larasati Auctioneers is also a key supporter of the auction events. All proceeds for the evening will go towards renovations and operational expenses for the new museum that will open in Autumn 2008.

The 7500 sq ft space is located on the 2nd floor of the hip new designer shopping mall, DNM at 68 Yee Wo Street in Causeway Bay. MOCA China will occupy its first dedicated space for art exhibitions, educational programs and arts inspired social events. Focusing on international and regional contemporary art from over the past thirty years, the establishment of the new museum may yet set a record for fast-track museum development–a period of about 18-months from initial conception to completion in Autumn 2008–thanks to the planning of co-directors, Aranita and Leung, and a large team of dedicated volunteers and advisers.

As the planning hub of an integrated network of art museums in the region and overseas, MOCA China is committed to creating a vibrant platform for a constant exchange of insights and discoveries towards the development of contemporary art in the region. Through far-reaching exemplary exhibitions of international contemporary art and through traveling exhibitions to museums overseas of the vibrant art of today of China and Asia, we aim to encourage dialogue and understanding between cultures. MOCA China hopes to help spark a passionate commitment to the importance of art to everyday life in Hong Kong. It will be an honor for us at MOCA China to be able to contribute to Hong Kong's growth as a global cultural capital, open to artistic experimentation and to adventurous new forms of expression.
